A Sound State is the sacred space from which Wendy Phua, a composer and sound designer based in Singapore, invokes the magic of music and its ilk.
She started out as a Yamaha endorsed bassist and has performed with Akira Jimbo (Casiopea), James LoMenzo (Megadeth), Mel Gayner (Simple Minds), Shaggy, and Emma Shapplin. Wendy later released a solo bass EP Between Here And Then in 2008 to glowing reviews by Musikuz (Czech) and Bass Frontiers Magazine (US). She now produces music and sound design for exciting projects ranging from casino slot games to mobile ringtones.
A Sound State handles a range of musical styles that include epic scores, inspirational, ethnic and even comedy, with arrangements featuring driving percussion, lush orchestration, modern electronics, and emotive solo instruments. Its goal is to create music soundtracks that speak to the heart of the audience by engaging harmoniously with the emotional content of moving visuals.
